It is a warmer brisk night.
More than tolerable, less than pleasant.
I walk my neighborhood, enjoying its safety. I pass a man holding a toddler. He greets me, soberly, with his head down, as one does when greeting a stranger at night. As we pass each other, a little toddler voice greets me as well. The strangerness
lifted for just a moment and we three shared a giggle over the sweetness of a
toddler greeting.
There are moments when my continent is irrelevant. I am not a nurse or any other title or color. I am just a girl taking a walk, as girls do
sometimes..
