(This is for my friend Freddy in Kona, Hawaii.)
*******
I have a friend,
His name is Freddy,
With skin of leather
And a heart of confetti.
They marvel at his appearance
But that is just a decoy,
Below that exterior
Is a kind, normal boy.
Perhaps we are friends
Cause I can relate,
I have no home
And don’t take the bate.
He pays for his coffee
Like a civilized client
'Kona Dark Roast'
For the ‘big scary giant’.
He’ll give you a wink
And a ‘Hey, baby girl’,
They see a crazy,
But I see a pearl.
